Our Families

“Helping Families Find Strength in Numbers” is more than a slogan. It’s something that happens every day at Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Greater New Orleans.

Our 15-room house serves as home-away-from-home for an average of 85 families each month; many are from Louisiana and the Gulf Coast, and some from countries like Pakistan, on the other side of the globe. While here, they find strength not only by being together as families, but being together with families who are feeling the same stress, fear, hope and hopefully, joy, as their children heal from serious illnesses.

Here are just a few of the families we’ve recently helped:

Jennifer and her daughter, Emily are from the Portland, Maine area.

Caleb and Rebecca

Caleb and his mom, Rebecca, are familiar sights at RMCH-NOLA due to his ongoing kidney disease. He’s living with his second kidney transplant and the Mississippi family visits us often for his frequent check-ups.

Kassandra, Danielle and Caliph

Baby Caliph represents the second generation of this Lafayette, La. family to become a guest at RMHC-NOLA. His mom, Danielle, underwent treatment in 1982 as an infant, only a few months after the house opened and her mom, Kassandra, was a guest back then.

Bego and Jon

Traveling from the Basque region of Spain, Begonia (right) and her mother (also Begonia), accompanied son Jon to New Orleans for his second visit to the city for treatment.
